Privacy Policy

You may notice a few ads while you peruse A Family in the City.  That’s because I decided to include Google AdSense ads to help defray some of the costs of running the blog (paying for web hosting, maintaining the domain name, etc.).  Basically, this means that I’m able to reserve space for ads on the blog’s pages and Google runs ads in those places.  Here’s what you should know about these ads as they relate to your privacy:

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to the website.
  • Google’s use of the DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to the site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of the use of the DoubleClick cookie for interest-based advertising by visiting Ads Settings.
  • Users can typically opt-out of Adsense interest based advertising by clicking on the little blue AdChoices arrow at the top-right corner of the ad. You can also review Google’s Content Network Privacy Policy.
  • Users can opt to turn off the use of cookies at anytime by changing settings in their web browser.

Additionally, the cookies of other third-party vendors or ad networks may also be used to serve ads on this site.

  • Users can see a list of the third-party vendors and ad networks that may be serving ads on this site by clicking on the link above.
  • Users can then visit those websites to opt out of the use of cookies for interest-based advertising (if the vendor or ad network offers this capability). Alternatively, users can opt out of some third-party vendor’s use of cookies for interest-based advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
